Fast internet speed but slow downlaod speed

I have a laptop connected to internet via ethernet which is able to reach approx 100-150 Mbps (depending on climate) which is correct for my subscription. But on apps like say chrome, opera or epic games top speeds for downloading is about 10-15 Mbps which is barely just 10% of what it's capable of. But on apps like steam, the download speed goes upto 100mbps but that is the only app I have seen with that high download speed. At my friend's house his pc could reach upto 100 Mbps on epic games on wifi and he had subscribed for a 300 Mbps plan which is still pretty fast.

So I would like to know a fix or something that would help increase the download speed on these apps as I am connected to ethernet with my router kept beside me and at most 3-4 devices are connected on a busy day in our household.

The values may be correct. You probably confuse the transmission speed which is measured in Mb/s with the data download speed which is measured in MegaBytes per second and is written MB/s.1 BYTE=8 bits.

    100 Mb/s transmission speed = 12.5 MB/s data download speed (100:8=12.5)

    150 Mb/s transmission speed = 18.75 MB/s data download speed (150:8=18.75).

The data download speed also depends on the server you connect to.

Am just confused but like why does steam register the full 100mbps but epic or opera register only like 10-15mbps are they like using the same speed then because when I tried download say rocket racing in epic(60gb) it was taking more than 2-3hrs but in steam I was downloading Apex legends (also 60gb) took 1 hr 30 min.
