I'm the only user on my Tecra using Windows 11 Pro. I have checked in several locations in the OS and I'm shown as an administrator. I am not able to do administrative functions. In particular, changing options in location services. The buttons are all greyed out.

hi I am experiencing the same issues and none of the above options are working

    1. Even when try to run as administrator, it doesn't give options to sign in with admin password and fingertip scan is my own, and I am the only one ever signed in on this lap top.
    2. When try to do #2, it gives a system 5 error.
    3. when tried #3, gpedit.msc file can not be found
    4. for #4 again, doesn't give option to sign in as administrator, even when try to open command prompt as an administrator. Though the screen asks for but doesn't give option to sign in using admin and password.
    5. I have Windows 11 home on my Laptop and is updated.

and tried few other options mentioned on net - nothing is working.

Is there a simple and easier way to get rid of this damn administrator privileges or to correct the error that gives 'this operation requires elevation in privileges.

I regret the Win 11 upgrade. I have worked on Win OS's from 3.1, NT, 2000, etc., etc. I will likely do a backup as best as possible and downgrade back to Win 10 Pro.

    Disgusted with this.

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

It sounds like you're facing issues with administrative privileges despite being an administrator. Here are a few steps that you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Run as Administrator: Even if you're logged in as an administrator, some tasks require you to explicitly "run as administrator". Right-click on the application or settings you're trying to access, and select "Run as administrator" from the context menu.
    2. Enable Built-in Administrator Account: Windows has a built-in administrator account that's disabled by default. You can enable it to perform administrative tasks. Open Command Prompt as administrator, then type net user administrator /active:yes and press Enter. Log out and log back in as the administrator to see if you can change the settings.
    3. Check Group Policy Settings: Some settings might be managed by Group Policy. Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Location and Sensors. Check if any policies are configured there.
    4. System File Check: Run a system file check to repair missing or corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator, then type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    5. Update Windows: Make sure your Windows 11 Pro is up-to-date. Some issues can be resolved by installing the latest updates.

Please be cautious when making changes to the administrator account or Group Policy settings, as incorrect changes can cause serious system issues.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Thank you.

    Best regards

I stumbled across your "fixes" for the issue with my laptop telling me I need administrator rights to do anything. I bought the computer new, had it built in late 2022. I had requested win 10 on it but I got the shipping email I was informed that they did me a solid and gave me a free upgrade to win 11. Hate it but anyway I decided to upgade to win 11 pro a couple of months ago to get my Bit locker back and every since then now I need admin rights for damn near everything.

I was told I had to create a guest account to get back my admin rights. I made one then I noticed everytime I would download or save something I couldn't find it. When I did find it it was located in a folder in my C drive under my name in the users folder. When I use command prompt it shows that name of the folder and its making duplicate copies of everything, even items i pulled from my old laptop and put on an external hard drive. Does any of this make sense to you? Any help, advise, links just whatever you have to help me figure this out is extremely appreciated.
