My Windows 11 PC keeps disconnecting from home WiFi and saying “some information has changed…”

I have a built windows 11 PC that uses a WiFi adapter. I have been using this same set up and WiFi for over a year now and as of the last 5 days I keep having the same problem where my PC disconnects from my home WiFi and says “some information changed since the last time you connected. We need additional information to complete the connection”. Then once I input the WiFi password (it is 100% without a doubt right) and my computer either says the same thing or that the WiFi password is incorrect. And this is after being connected to it for anywhere between 5min- 1 hour. I have reset my adapter, reset my network settings, restarted my PC probably a 100 times. Done everything I could possibly think of and solutions only last for at max an hour. I have a family member also with a PC that has no issues whatsoever with the WiFi and even my laptop, phone iPad, etc have no issues connecting to the internet. AND I connected my PC to my phone hotspot and it connected with no issues it is just my home WiFi.

    Thank you.

In the Device Properties of the adapter in the device manager, are you able to change its band?

Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter to launch Device Manager.

Expand Network adapters and right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter, then select Properties.

Go to the Advanced tab and find the Preferred Band or Band property. This option may vary depending on your Wi-Fi adapter model and manufacturer.

Select the value you want from the drop-down menu. You can choose 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or no preference. The 5 GHz band usually offers faster speed and less interference, but the 2.4 GHz band has longer range and better compatibility with older devices.

Click OK to save the changes and close the properties window.

You may need to restart your PC or reconnect to your Wi-Fi network for the changes to take effect.

    Hi,

My WiFi adapter connects to my phone hotspot with no issues.

I tried connecting via WPS but it continuously says that it cannot receive information from router.

    Thank you

    Hi VEE,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

It sounds like the USB WiFi adapter is defective.

Did you try connecting using WPS method instead, if the router supports that?

    Please keep us posted.
