My audio is muffled when playing video games

No matter what game I play my audio from both the game itself and external sources is always muffled, static-like or worse in quality. I have tried updating my computer, updating my drivers and restarting and nothing seems to work, this issue only occurs when I'm playing games too.

    Hi Taran,

I'm Christine, a Windows user like you. Looks like you're experiencing sound or audio issue. No worries, I'll do my best to help you.

May I know when did the issue start? Is there any changes made before you got this issue?

Please send the make and model of your device. (Please press Windows key + R and type msinfo32 and hit enter, look for system model)

Kindly check and follow the steps below:

    1. Run the Audio troubleshooter

Click on the Start menu and type Troubleshoot and then press enter

Find the Audio option and then run it

    Check if the problem persists.

    1. Update or Reinstall the Sound, video and game controllers

Please press the Windows key + X

    Then click Device manager

Kindly expand the Sound, video and game controllers

Right click and choose "Update Driver"

    Select "Search automatically for drivers"

If the issue persists Choose "Browse my computer for driver" instead

and click " Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"

    Choose the older version.

If it will still the same, please uninstall the driver and restart your device.

Please let me know the result. I'll be happy to assist you all the way until it's resolved.

    Thank you,

    Christine L

The audio troubleshooter seems to have worked.

Thanks so much for this! :)
