To connect your wireless router to your laptop:

    Power on your router.

Connect the router to your modem using an Ethernet cable.

    Turn on the laptop's Wi-Fi.

Find and select your router's Wi-Fi network.

Enter the Wi-Fi password if prompted.

Wait for the connection to establish.

Your router should have come with a quick start guide. If not, documentation should exist on the maker's support site. That documentation should walk you through the process. Typically there will information printed on the router telling you how to log on as an admin wired or wirelessly. This will contain information like an IP address, user name and password. If you cannot connect wirelessly, connect to your wireless router box wired. If you laptop does not have a wired port, purchase an inexpensive USB to wired adapter so that you can. Once connected you should be able to access your wireless router box by typing its IP address into your web browser, providing the user name and password printed on the unit. From there you should be able to configure the box for your network and change any wireless settings.
