I have been silly and played with the security settings on my Windows 11 laptop

Is there some way to return ALL to a new build status ?

ie) Default everything without carrying out a rebuild

I am being blocked from using many programs such as Ancestry/FTM because I am unable to save some files to the folder on my C: drive

Isn't it about time that a default setting was available ?

Community is just a user to user forum, the best option would be to open the Feedback Hub (Windows Key + F) and suggest to their developers that they add this as an option in a future update.

The only methods to restore the default settings is to either perform a System Restore or to reset Windows or create a new user account, there is no other working method since they have not added this as an option in the Settings app to restore the defaults.

HI, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

If you have a System Restore point prior to making those changes, that will undo all the changes you have made:

Click the power button on your Start menu.

Press the Shift Key and click Restart

Your PC will boot into the Windows Recovery Environment

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to
