I am facing this problem since 2 months now, where my system is downloading the required updates but unable to install them properly and fails at restart with a prompt "Something didn't go as planned". Another issue that I am facing along with this is that I can't download anything from Microsoft Store or update the existing apps on my system. Please help me understand the problem.

    Hey there!

My name is Ravi, an independent advisor and expert user. I am happy to help you. :)

I understand how confusing it can be to see the "Something didn't go as planned" message. Let's fix it.

    >> Use the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

1). Press Windows + I to open Windows Settings. Then go to System.

2). Select Troubleshoot and then click Other troubleshooters.

3). Click the Run button next to Windows Update.

4). Restart your PC and try installing updates again.

    >> If you have an antivirus, disable it and then try installing updates.

    >> Free up some space. Not having enough space for updates can also cause this issue.

    >> Clear Windows Update Cache

1). Open the Command Prompt and Run it as an administrator to open it.

2). Type "net stop wuauserv" and press Enter.

3). Type C: and press Enter.

4). Type "cd %Windir%\SoftwareDistribution" and press Enter.

5). Type "del /f /s /q Download" and press Enter.

    >> Another issue that I am facing along with this is that I can't download anything from Microsoft Store or update the existing apps on my system.

Do you get an error message while updating or installing an app?

Feel free to get in touch again if you have any additional questions.

    Cheers,

    Ravi

This let me download the update, but I get "Install error - 0x80070103" when it goes to install the update.

1). Open the Command Prompt and Run it as an administrator to open it.
2). Type "net stop wuauserv" and press Enter.
3). Type C: and press Enter.
4). Type "cd %Windir%\SoftwareDistribution" and press Enter.
