How can I make an application display in dark mode when it does not support dark mode?

I have a couple of software applications which I use for work which do not have any built-in support for dark mode. This is a problem for me as I need to use them for long periods late at night, and the bright white background of these apps gives me eyestrain. It possibly also makes it difficult for me to sleep at night.

I have already tried f.lux to change the overall colours in the evening, but this still does not help that much when using an application with a bright white background.

Is there a way to invert the colours on a app on Windows (I am using Windows 11)? I'd like the application background to be black instead of white, and the text to be white (or similar) instead of black. I have had a look at the various options available on Windows but there does not seem to be an option for this except on apps which specifically support dark mode.

Thanks

There is a software you can use to switch any Windows application to dark mode (by inverting the colours). It works with all versions of Windows, and is very easy to use.

I use this software to make some old DB editing software which I like to use run in dark mode. It is indeed an eye-saver.

Link is below - hope this is helpful.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

If the applications do not support dark mode, there is no native method to get them to display in dark mode, the only hope you may have is to open the Settings app, then go to Accessibility - Contrast themes and set one of those themes in Windows, that may be able to display the apps with a dark background.
