Realtek IR Camera Driver - Not Working

Anonymous

Good day,

The camera on my Dell Latitude 7380 (recently formatted) is not working.

The camera is not listed anywhere under "Device Manager"

All other drivers are working and up to date.

I ran the Dell troubleshooting scan (on the Dell website) and no issues are identified.

I downloaded and installed the camera driver from the Dell website

Realtek IR Camera Driver

Version 10.0.17763.20082, A13 Release date 23 Apr 2019

When I try installing the driver, it says unsuccessful. And I am unable to install the driver.

The unsuccessful installation log message I receive is as follows:

Sorry to hear that, I would recommend you completely delete the downloaded driver and clear the cache

On your keyboard, press the Windows + R keys at the same time.

In the Open field, type %temp%, then press ENTER. The temp folder will open.

Press the CTRL + A keys at the same time to select all the .tmp items.

Press the DELETE key, and then click Yes when the User Account Control window appears to confirm.

After that visit the Dell website and download the latest driver.

Hello there, I'm Gopal an Independent Advisor. I will try my best to help you.

Have you checked the driver in hidden devices in the device manager?

Start by opening the Device Manager by pressing Win + R, typing “devmgmt. msc” in the text box, and pressing the Enter key.

Click View on the top menu and select Show Hidden Devices.

    Regards,

    Gopal

Sorry to hear that, I suggest you perform the clean boot option and then try to install the driver

Thanks Gopal, I did exactly as instructed.

When installing the new Dell driver (based on Dell service tag) from the website, this time it proceeded to install without an error (previously I got an error message when trying to install).

However, after the restart (promped following the driver installation), the camera is still not listed under Device Manager.

    Hi Gopal,

    Thank you for your input.

I have indeed checked the hidden devices in Device Manager.

No camera device is visible. The device list did not change.

There is no section for "Imaging Devices" visible.

If you have any other suggestions, feel free to share. Thanks.
