Monitor Refresh Rate stuck at 60Hz

Hello everyone,

I have an Acer Nitro EI242QRP which is a 165hz monitor, I previously had Windows 11 before facing this issue, I just got back to Windows 10 and I see that my refresh rate is stuck at 65Hz, this never happened before. When I first bought the monitor I was stuck at 144Hz but that was because I needed a DP cable to DP on both sides to get 165Hz and never had any problems until now that I downgraded to Windows 10. I updated the graphic drivers to the latest still same problem. Changed the cable to another DP still same issue. Any ideas on how I can fix it?

Thank you in advance.

    Hello Jack,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

Firstly, could you let me know the specific system version (OS Build)? You can check it by pressing Win + X > System > Windows specifications*, click “Copy” and paste it in your next reply*.

Then please check the basic hardware information of your device. Win + Q to open the search box, type “msinfo32”, then open “System Information”, please take a screenshot of it and attach it to your next reply.

Did this occur recently, or has it been going on for a while? If it was recent, did you have any special actions (such as installing system updates*,* hardware changes*, etc.*) before that?

If the refresh rate is normal in Windows 11 but abnormal after returning to Windows 10, please follow the steps below:

    1. Update all computer hardware drivers You can reinstall all drivers, especially the chipset and BIOS firmware. Visit the official website of your device manufacturer to download the corresponding model driver, and then install it manually, and restart to see if it works. Disclaimer*: Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party linked sites or any support related to technology.* If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.
    2. You may also Perform a clean boot to see if it is normal, this is a troubleshooting step. In this mode, we can further confirmed whether it is caused by system problems or third-party software or personalized Settings. So please be patient. Disclaimer*: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.* These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step so that it will help you get you back on track.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
