On my work laptop file for the last few weeks file explorer keeps closing itself. It is driving me mad. Is there a way to sort this issue?

Thanks

    Hi

The issue seemed to start a few weeks ago, I cannot pin it to anything exactly. I did reach out to our IT who tried a couple of things but it is still happening so they said they would investigate but I have heard nothing further.

Laptop is running Windows 10 Enterprise Version 21H2 (OS Build 19044.3758). Updates are controlled by IT so I cannot do the instructions in your number 1.

I have done what you say in no.2 and am about to restart

Yes, you may try the No. 3 but in case it didn't work as well, please do reach your IT Support to check on this since this is an Enterprise version and they are the only one who could check on it specially it's a work or company device.

    Thank you so much,

    Christine

I have restarted after doing no.2 above.

Do I see how that goes before attempting no.3?

    Hi Lynn,

Thanks for updating me. If the issue persists after restart, since you are using an Enterprise version, it would be best to wait for your IT Support to check on this since they are the only one who could access your device since it a company computer.

No worries, I'm sure that they'll gonna check on that and in case you didn't hear anything from them, you may consider to bring your computer to them if it's possible.

    Thank you,

    Christine

    Hi Lynn,

I'm Christine, a Windows user like you. Looks like you're unable to launch your File explorer properly as it's closing automatically. No worries, I'll do my best to help you.

May I know when did the issue start? Is there any changes made before you got this issue?

If I may ask, since you've mentioned that it's a work device, have you also tried to reach your IT Support regarding this?

May I know the version or build of Windows that you're running? (Please press Windows key+R and type winver and hit enter)

Please check and follow the steps below:

    1. Update Windows

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/upd...

    1. Restart the explorer.exe

    On Windows 10

Right click on start menu and choose Task Manager

Click Details Tab and end the task of explorer.exe

Hit File then click Run new Task and type explorer.exe and press enter

    Please restart your device.

Please check if the issue persists.

    1. Please try to run the sfc scannow to check if there's a corrupted system file. Kindly follow the steps from the link below:

Please click start menu and type cmd, right click on it and choose CMD with Admin.

Type sfc /scannow and hit enter. NOTE: There's a space between c and /

Please let me know the result. I'll be happy to assist you all the way until it's resolved.
