    Hello, this is Emily.

Free Windows 10 upgrade has stopped since 2016, however, over the last few years, Microsoft never really stopped the free upgrade pathway and continued to allow users to claimed the free upgrade from Windows 7 or 8/8.1. But in Sept this year, Microsoft finally closed that loophole and ended the free upgrade officially. This means, you won't be able to activate Windows 10 anymore with this upgrade. Sorry.

You mean the Windows 10 download link? Maybe I didn't explain well. It is the activation path from Windows 7 or Windows 8 / 8.1 to Windows 10 that's no longer available (free). But users can still download and install Windows 10 if they have valid license for Windows 10. This link is still essential for those who need to perform clean install, or repair install, etc.

I was hoping to find the official announcement earlier.. but I just found it now: https://devicepartner.microsoft.com/en-us/commu...

The iso page for Windows 10 doesn't require license though because Microsoft does allow the intallation without license, it is just a matter of making sure you have a way to activate it after the installation.
