Battery Limit vs, Batter Saver in Windows 11

I recently got a Surface Laptop Studio with an i5 Intel core. I knew from the get-go that I should limit charging the battery, so I searched for a solution and came up with an obscure suggestion to change the bios, which I did and while it works well, it limits charging to 50%. I have since learned, thanks to MFST Greg, that Battery Limit is used for machines left charging over long periods. Is there any way to easily switching between Battery Limit and Battery Saver so I can alternately leave it charging for long periods or use Battery Saver so it will charge to 80-85% when preparing to take the computer with me for the day, and turn Battery Limit back at the end of the day?

Greetings, Crloftin! My name is Arif, and I will assist you today.

After conducting research, Microsoft Support indicates that the Surface Laptop Studio features Battery Smart Charging, which limits charging to 80% during prolonged use or high temperatures. This feature is always active and turns off when the battery drops below 20%.

You can activate Battery Limit Mode in UEFI settings to cap charging at 50%, extending battery life.

    To adjust the charging threshold:

    1. Restart your Surface Laptop Studio and press Power + Volume Up for UEFI settings.
    2. Go to Boot Configuration> Advanced Options.
    3. Toggle Enable Battery Limit to Off for 100% charging or On for Battery Limit mode.

Note: There is no direct way to switch between Battery Limit and Battery Saver modes.

Keep in mind that modifying UEFI settings requires technical knowledge and caution. Charging your device to 100% or leaving it plugged in for extended periods may reduce the overall lifespan of your battery. Therefore, it’s advisable to use Battery Limit mode if you plan to leave your device plugged in for extended periods.
