Distorted Audio, Feedback Loops, and Sound Cutting Out in Windows 11

Been having some strange audio problems. I use an external recording/sound setup for my PC (Focusrite Solo Studio) that uses a headphone and microphone.

Since Wendsday of last week, I've had a myriad of audio probelms with my PC, and I do not know what to do. Issues are:

  • Audio in browser, zoom, discord, music apps will randomly stop all at once. I do not know what triggers this specifically.
  • Audio will becoming distorted for a few seconds at random, with popping and a buzzing.
  • Zoom & Discord audio, specifically incoming sound will sometimes double over and become distorted in my headphones and stop randomly. This usually happens 30 minutes into a call.

I have tried reinstalling the Focusrite drivers and hardware twice and troubleshooting in Win11 is no help. At my wits end with this, need help soon.

I was having the same problem and after trying many things, nothing worked.

So I tried turning of the microphone at the configurations (privacy and safety > microphone > turn off access) , and it suddenly solved the problem.

Hope it works for you too.

Download Park Control and use it to disable cpu core parking. It's as easy as On/Off button and it applies the setting to your windows power plan. Windows by default hides this option from you. You have to set it for every power plan you might use. There's also CMD commands to do it, but using Park Control is faster. I tried all the solutions I found online and this is the only one that stoped my Scarlett from randomly distorting/dropping out. The problem is not Focusrite, it's Windows process latency.

Try running the System File Checker. Make sure you've installed the latest updates for Windows, and then restart your machine.

    1. In the search box on the taskbar, type command prompt, and right-click or press and hold Command Prompt (Desktop app) from the list of results. Select Run as administrator, and then select Yes.
    2. Type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (note the space before each "/"), and then press Enter.
    3. After you see a message that says "The operation completed successfully," type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    4. After you see a message that says, "Verification 100% complete," type exit and press Enter.

    I hope this helps.

I've already uninstalled the drivers and software for both realtek and the external focusrite hardware and still nothing. It won't even be fine for a while; clean install of drivers and back to popping and the previously mentioned problems
