Issue with MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 MT7921 Wireless LAN Card on Asus TUF F15 FX506HM

Hello everyone,

I'm facing a persistent issue with my MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 MT7921 Wireless LAN Card on my Asus TUF F15 FX506HM laptop, and I'm seeking assistance to resolve it. After starting my PC, the Wi-Fi card works for a few minutes, but then it suddenly stops functioning. The Wi-Fi logo disappears from the control center, and the card vanishes from the device manager. To get it working again, I have to restart my PC every time.

Upon inspecting the Event Viewer, I noticed two errors related to the Wi-Fi card each time it malfunctions:

  1. An error from "mtkwlex" with Event ID 5002.
  2. An error from NDIS with Event ID 10317.

I've already attempted several troubleshooting steps, including:

  • BIOS reset
  • Installing the latest drivers for the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • Installing the latest drivers for the laptop model's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • Reinstalling the Wi-Fi card
  • Removing power-saving settings

I've also contacted Asus support, and they suggested a BIOS reset and updating drivers, both of which I've already tried. I plan to reach out to them again, but I wanted to seek the community's advice as well.

If anyone has experienced a similar issue or has suggestions on how to resolve this problem, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Beltium

    3. Disable any Antivirus program or Windows firewall you may have for temporary purpose.
    4. Cleanup below Temp folders location -> Open Start -> Run -> Type below location one-by-one and press enter -> C:\Windows\Temp -> %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp
    5. Run Disk Cleanup from Select C:\ Drive from Properties- > General -> Disk Cleanup - >Cleanup system files
    6. Run below DISM commands from elevated

    prompt.

    Hello Prakash,

Thank you for your swift response and continued assistance.

I understand your suggestion regarding a potential hardware issue with the Wireless card or the motherboard. Before reaching out to Asus for hardware support, I was wondering if a complete Windows reinstallation could be a viable solution. If so, would you recommend a clean installation by downloading Windows directly from the Microsoft website to minimize errors? Alternatively, is performing a PC reset a suitable option?

Furthermore, in the event of a Windows reinstallation, should I be concerned about reinstalling drivers for various Asus peripherals, or does the system handle this automatically?

Your insights on these additional queries would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your ongoing support.

    Best Regards,
    Beltium

    Hello,

Thank you for your prompt response and for taking the time to provide detailed suggestions. Unfortunately, after going through each step you recommended, the issue with my MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 MT7921 Wireless LAN Card persists.

I followed your instructions diligently, including downloading the MyASUS app to ensure all drivers are up to date, performing full Windows updates, disabling antivirus and Windows firewall temporarily, cleaning up the specified Temp folders, running Disk Cleanup, executing the DISM commands, conducting an sfc /scannow, and disabling fast startup. Despite these efforts, the problem still occurs consistently.

I appreciate your assistance thus far, and I'm reaching out to inquire if you have any further suggestions or alternative solutions that may help resolve this persistent Wi-Fi card issue. Your expertise is highly valued, and I look forward to any additional guidance you can provide.

Thank you once again for your time and assistance.

    Best Regards,
    Beltium
