Why do I have a GREAT keyboard input lag ingame?

I was playing "Escape from Tarkov" and "The Finals" when this occurred. These are the first games i installed after building my new PC

specs:

  • rtx 4090 aero gigabyte
  • 7 7800x3d ryzen
  • asus 650-a wifi (motherboard)

i basically have the same problem as this guy (ref: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8\_1-gaming/very-bad-keyboard-lag-in-games/cbbf010f-6ae0-48ad-8233-cf3e8f02587b)

but installing the chipset drivers/uninstalling the current keyboard drivers doesn't seem to fix it. I also made a new clean install of windows 11 but yea... tried another keyboard but the issue still persist.

as the other guy already said. For example. I input w to move forward and release it after like 10 seconds to stop moving BUT my ingame character keeps moving for another like 5 seconds.

Thanks for the help in advance!

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

This is indeed a frustrating issue, especially when it affects your gaming performance. Here are some potential solutions you could try:

    1. Disable Filter Keys: Filter Keys is a feature in Windows that can cause delays in key response. Go to "Settings" > "Ease of Access" > "Keyboard" and make sure "Filter Keys" is turned off.
    2. Check for Background Applications: Sometimes, other running applications can cause input lag. Close any unnecessary applications running in the background while gaming.
    3. Update GPU Drivers: Make sure your RTX 4090 drivers are up-to-date. You can update the drivers through the NVIDIA GeForce Experience software or from the NVIDIA website.
    4. Check Your Game Settings: Some games have settings that can affect input response. Check the game's settings and try reducing the graphics settings or turning off VSync.
    5. Update BIOS: Updating your motherboard BIOS can sometimes resolve hardware compatibility issues. You can find the latest BIOS version on the Asus website. 6. Disable Windows Game Mode: Some users have reported input lag issues with Windows Game Mode turned on. Go to "Settings" > "Gaming" > "Game Mode" and ensure it's off.
    7. Check Your Internet Connection: If you're playing online, a poor or unstable internet connection can cause lag. Try connecting to the internet via an Ethernet cable if you're currently using Wi-Fi.
    8. Replace the USB interface and check if the problem is caused by the USB interface.
    9. Hardware Issues: If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with your PC or motherboard. If you're comfortable doing so, check your hardware components to make sure everything is connected properly and working as it should.

    Best regards
