How to obtain Windows 10 Home Edition Installation Media after Harddrive replacement
I've recently had to replace a HDD due to Disk Failure, so need to get my hands on Windows 10 Home Edition installation media. I used the Media Creation Utility from another PC (running Windows 10 Pro) unticking recommended... and selecting Windows 10 x64, but for some reason my faulty PC will not boot from the Media created. Instead I receive... Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
- Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
- Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
- Click "repair your computer."
File: \boot\bcd
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
I eventually attempted using another Windows Installation Media (with Windows 10 1903 Pro) which boots fine and builds the PC successfully, but the PC being rebuilt is not licensed for Pro.
Windows Home Edition does not appear in O/S Selection from this Media during the Install Wizard.
If someone can advise me where I can obtain an Windows 10 Home Edition ISO other than at the URL https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You need to select bootable USB during this process. Often used keys are F8, F12, F2, or look at PC manual for this procedure.
Installation media has several Windows edition including Home and Pro.
If you have some troubles, please show a photo of the screen at these moments.

2024-01-25T23:03:43+00:00 OK, figured it out eventually how to boot successfully. Why it wouldn't boot directly from USB when selecting it from Boot Manager ... I have no idea.
For others in the same situation that are running Windows 10 Pro Edition (whether by mistake or the same reason I had too) with a need to downgrade to Windows 10 Home Edition and have had difficultly booting from the Installation Media created from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Whilst in Windows, navigate to Settings > Recovery
Select the option Restart Now under 'Advanced Startup' (with your USB inserted)
Select the option Boot from USB Media
This will then successfully allow you to boot from the USB Installation Media.
Note, If a complete clean install of Windows is required (if downgrading Editions) then select Custom Installation at the Wizard and delete ALL existing partitions first. The Install process will recreate these partitions as necessary. And as the saying goes, don't forget to backup all Personal Data before you rebuild!
Hope this helps others in the same situation.
