Hello, this is Emily.
Microsoft doesn't issue free Windows license directly to individual student. Instead, Microsoft works with education orgnazations to provide them free volume licenses. If you are a student in an education organization, reach out to your school IT department to inquire about it. They should be able to provide you a free license for the education edition of Windows.
Now that was for Windows. If you are talking about Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, etc), you can get it for free directly from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/students Make sure you have a valid school email address.
You are welcome. Good luck!
