Windows update troubleshooter not working and unable to update anything

This began after I had my laptop repaired after its ssd got destroyed. When I got it back everything looked okay until I realized that the person who fixed it installed pirated versions of microsoft office even though I could have reinstalled it legally. I am not sure if it will be relevant but it seemed appropriate to note this as well.

I only started noticing something was wrong after I had been unable to install minecraft, the voice recorder not working because my windows couldn't update, and finally the microsoft store just stuck on the loading screen even though my internet is fairly strong and other apps seem to be doing okay. Then I tried checking for any windows update in settings but it said that there was an error and told me to use the update troubleshooter. I tried running the windows update troubleshooter but it could not detect the problem, then I tried a method involving the cmd using the commands "DISM /online /cleanup-image /Scan Health" and "DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth" on a tech savvy friend's advice but even that couldn't work.

I am very hesitant to do any other options due to my lack of technical knowledge, and we're tight on money so it might be hard to send it to get looked at again and by an official store. Is there any way to fix this?

You may need to contact that person and ask them to revert the changes because your computer will continue to be unable to receive updates and the Microsoft Store app will no longer be functional.

    **Perform a Clean Boot

Determine whether a background program or a software conflict is interfering with windows update service.

Go to the search box > type msconfig

Select System Configuration > go to the Services tab.

Select and make sure to put a check mark on "Hide all Microsoft services" > Click Disable all.

Go to Startup tab > Open Task Manager > Disable all the unnecessary services running there. Restart your computer.

Please try to enable Windows update service then check for updates again.

When was the last time it worked properly?

Please check if your Windows Update service is available and running.

Click Start, type services.msc in the Start Search text area, and then click services.msc in the programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

    Double-click Windows Update.

If the Startup status lists Stopped, click Start and then click OK. If the status is Running, right click then select Restart

Hello! Thank you for reaching out to me.

The last time my windows update was working was December 21, 2023 the day before my ssd stopped working. I got my laptop back on the 28th and did not really notice an issue until recently.

Also I did what you suggested and this is what happened. It was originally on an option that didn't allow me to press start so I put the startup type to manual. I also learned that the person who fixed my laptop apparently disabled it because of the old pirated microsoft apps like word, powerpoint, etc.
