Hi Franc, the CryptBasedll is a Windows-based file and the in-place upgrade will repair it in the process, in addition, it is not recommended to remove it as it might harm the system files, in addition, if you want to remove it kindly follow the steps below:

Note: before doing this make sure to create a restore point: https://support.microsoft.com/en-hk/help/402753...

Method 1. Login to Safemode and delete the file or application.

Press the Windows + R key, input msconfig in the Windows RUN window, and hit Enter to open the System Configuration utility.

click the Boot tab. Under Boot options, check Safe Boot then click Network and Hit OK.

Once you log in to Safemode delete the file.

Once you have deleted it to go back to normal mode, just repeat the process and uncheck Safe Boot.

If you cannot delete it, kindly open CMD as admin then copy, paste, and enter the command below:

    del /f cryptbase.dll

Then hit Enter > Go back to normal mode, if the issue persists, you may also check this link:

Lester I came across a post where someone had a similar problem for a different game Madden 24. He says there that there is a file called cryptbase.dll is the reason the error happened. And he removed it and the game works for him. I tried to locate the file it is in windows system 32 folder. I tried to delete the file. I could not delete the file. Access was denied. So I want you to check on this particular dll file analyse and see why this file is preventing me to launch the game. Please get back to me on this. I think the solution is not in-place upgrade. I found the file CryptBasedll in fifa 21 folder and removed it. The error still is there. It's really frustrating. I did many methods prior to this. He also spent hours and hours looking for a solution and finally found it. I want you to check this file. Kindly get back to me. Thanks

This is the particular thread i found it in Reddit. This user posted about a month ago.

Hi Franc, thank you so much for the detailed reply, it seems that the cdd.dll cannot load, in addition, have you tried to run method 2? If yes and still having an issue, I suggest doing an in-place upgrade wherein it will upgrade the device to the latest version and repair all issues without deleting any files.

Note: before doing this make sure to create a restore point: https://support.microsoft.com/en-hk/help/402753...

    1. go to this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...
    2. Select Download Now, and select Run. You need to be an administrator to run this tool.
    3. On the License terms page, if you accept the license terms, select Accept.
    4. On the What do you want to do? page, select Upgrade this PC now, and then select Next.
    5. After downloading and installing, it should fix the issue.

Thanks for getting back to me Lester. I already did the clean driver installation. I tried to reregister cdd.dll file on command prompt i get another error message that the module failed to load. The specified module could not be found. I have attached the screenshot of the error message.

Hi Franc, thank you so much for patiently waiting, as per checking and analyzing the DMP files you have, there are 2 significant errors on the PC, the cdd.dll and nvlddmkm.sys.

The cdd.dll is a Windows system file that renders graphics on the screen while the nvlddmkm.sys is your Nvidia graphics card driver, and for us to fix the issue kindly follow the steps below:

    Method 1. Re-register cdd.dll:

Open the Command prompt with Administrator or Windows terminal with Administrator, then copy, paste, and enter the command below:

    regsvr32 cdd.dll

Once done, restart the PC and check.

Method 2. Run a clean installation of the Nvidia GPU driver:

We need to run a Clean installation of the Nvidia driver, this is different from doing DDU or updating the driver as this will remove all entries and replace them with compatible ones, kindly follow the steps from the link below:

Additional note: If the issue persists, I suggest removing the GPU and placing it into another PCIe port available, however, if all fails, I suggest contacting a local technician to physically check the device for any hardware-related issues.
