For many years, I have edited screenshot images by selecting the screenshot, and was automatically sent to the EDiting format. Now, the screenshots cannot be edited, ignoring the selection.

I'm not sure if my computer is windows or not but it probably is. I just go to the file thing and find your screenshot. Then double click it and it should work.

Do you have paint? Are you using the Snipping Tool? See example image below. Does yours show Edit in Paint?

    Hello ,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

Firstly, could you let me know the specific system version (OS Build)? You can check it by pressing Win + X > System > Windows specifications*, click “Copy” and paste it in your next reply*.

Did this occur recently, or has it been going on for a while? If it was recent, did you have any special actions (such as installing system updates*,* hardware changes*, etc.*) before that?

Are you taking screenshots using Windows' built-in Snipping tool (or its shortcut Win + Shift + S ) or a third-party screenshot application?

    • If it is third-party software, please provide more specific information, or you may contact the provider of the software for further technical supportas, as they would be the best resource to provide you with specific guidance and solutions for their product.
    • If it's the Windows built-in Snipping tool, it usually pops up a notification popup in the bottom right corner of the Windows taskbar after the screenshot is taken, and then you can click on it to edit it further in Snipping Tool. You can also adjust the settings.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
