Going directly to C:\Users and delete the 5kb file labeled with my name and deleting it worked for me!
Why does my pc ask me to select an app to open 'my name' every time i turn it on?
Every time i turn my pc on or type %appdata% into run it asks me to select an app to open 'my name', anyone got a similar issue, it's been bugging me for a while and today it's stopping me from opening %localappdata% (the text thats been written over is the name of my windows profile, as i said if anyone has a similar issue and knows how to fix this i would like some help)

2023-11-30T05:46:20+00:00 I have the same issue and have no idea why at times I'm asked to "Select an app to open 'Arlene'" -- "Arlene" is my first name.
When I type "startup" in the Windows Search box, and tap Startup Apps--system settings, the options below appear. Note that "Arlene" is listed 4 times as a Startup app. As you noted, I have no idea what "Arlene" represents as a startup app, so I set them all to "Off" and I'm no longer getting prompted "Select an app to open 'Arlene'" at startup. Hope this helps you.
From Task Manager, Startup app, I right-clicked 'Arlene', Open File location. I see "Arlene" with an icon that looks like a document. I deleted this "Arlene" file, restarted PC, and "Arlene" is no longer listed as a Startup App. (CAUTION: Deleting this file required Administrative permission and the file does NOT go into the Recycle Bin so this "file" cannot be restored from the Recycle Bin if things go wrong.)

There may be a corrupted file in your Quick Access, the following method will clear out Quick Access, then when you open a file or folder, they should be added to Quick Access.
Open File Explorer.
In the Address bar paste this and press Enter:
shell:recent\AutomaticDestinations
Delete the contents of the resulting folder
In the Address bar paste this and press Enter:
shell:recent\CustomDestinations
Delete the contents of the resulting folder
Restart (not shut down) your PC.

Hi bro,
I'm suffering from this same problem and looks like a recent windows update messed it up and made my pc very slow to boot, whenever i restart my pc or just wake it up from a shutdown state it always asks me to select an app to open "my name /pc name" and i tried using the Sfc /scannow method it fixed some errors that were slowing down my pc and its working speed is back to normal but this app message still comes, i tried using your method but it never shows up or opens anything in the explorer search bar. Is there anyother fix to fix this cause its starting to bug me every now and then. It's irritating when you are using some other app and this message pops up and none of the options work. I eagerly wait to hear a solution very soon from anyone that can help.
