Apps and programs are uninstalled by themselves every time windows 11 performs an update.

At first I thought I was going crazy or that I hadn't installed a program but after knowing I downloaded Logitech Options + the day before an update and it being gone the next day, I know something is up.

I know it's windows fault because I have this issue on two different computers with windows 11 and this being a fresh install, the only other program I have is chrome and slack.

It is driving me absolutely mad. I shouldn't have to constantly re-install applications. Windows shouldn't touch my applications.
It happens after an update is installed. Whatever it is it needs to stop.

Fresh install of Windows 11,
Edition Windows 11 Pro

Version 22H2

Installed on ‎9/‎2/‎2023

OS build 22621.2283

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22662.1000.0

Here are the programs it constantly removes:

  • Logitech Options +
  • Discord
  • Youtube Music Desktop App
  • Sublime Text
  • Prism Launcher

Programs it never seems to remove:

  • Edge (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Here is a reference to the same exact issue with no resolution. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/all/apps-uninstalling-themselves-after-every-single/e5bb12e1-04b8-4f5b-a8e5-a8d44ae9a7b1?page=2

I've turned off the "Archive Application" settings but that doesn't seem to be what it is. It still happens even with this off.
Doesn't happen on Windows 10, but both my windows 11 machines have this issue.

But why do we have to keep doing these things over and over and over again? It is so frustrating to set down to work and have to set your computer up again!

I had some problems with windows 11 too. I've been a Windows and DOS user ever since the very first versions in the early 1980's. I know it inside and out. This is the most problematic version I have ever encountered. I'm heartbroken. Neither of my DVD drives work with it. The recent Logitech webcam doesn't work. The LAN port on the 2-year-old Gigabyte motherboard isn't even recognized as a device. I tried all the firmware and driver updates and every fix I could find. No good. Well, some applications disappeared and I reinstalled them. Others won't work at all. All of the hardware works fine with Linux.

Well, then another surprise. Updates quit working. The indexing service refuses to run. Suddenly, Windows disqualified my license with no warning. I opened tickets. Microsoft told me that it was already an upgrade from Win8, so the upgrade from WIn10 to Win11 that I did over 2 years ago using the Microsoft website and tools is invalid. They charged me over $200 to buy a new license just so I can use the computer. The indexing service they broke with the license issue still refuses to run.

What to do? I moved my 787 GB windows system into a linux KVM virtual machine. Memory seems to be better handled and and a lot of things seem to run smoother and somewhat faster. WIndows is a launcher for some applications I still have in there and hosts some data I haven't moved out yet - I don't consider it an operating system. It's just a big app launcher that prefers its own proprietary apps. Well, it doesn't even do that right. So, I'm using Win365 until I get screwed again, but by that time, all data will be migrated off and all application functionality will be something else (most of it is already changed).

They closed my tickets with **** answers, like wiping everything out and starting over. I don't understand why they can't fix their own junk, like that indexing service. oh well.

Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do when they run away from you? There's no ticket for that.

I see that my applications are installed under apps but they show no memory and cannot be opened.

I can't turn off storage sense, but I use this application everyday, so it should not be affected.

I just want to know what is going on.

I have this happen with Zoom and Web catalogue and a few other apps. Windows 11 is a nightmare... and it's super slow. Applications crash all the time, and I have plenty of space and memory. Teams is terrible... the new Outlook desktop app is abysmal it's like you guys are trying to make my life more difficult rather then making it easier.
