I need to delete a 382 GB file in C:\Windows\CSC\Namespace folder. I am using Windows 11 Pro. I have tried several options which did not work. I haven’t been able to get access to the folder. This large file is filling my 1TB drive causing the computer to be almost unusable. Any assistance is appreciated.

I was finally able to delete the problem folder by using safe mode. Once in safe mode I used the following commands:

    rd /s /q c:\windows\csc\v2.0.6\namespace

Everything is good now. Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi ,

Sabya here, Independent Windows Adviser. Hope you are doing well.

Can you please let me know the error message you are getting when you are trying to delete it. Normally the error message is due to ownership issues.

You can refer to this post - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

The user was able to take ownership of the folder and successfully delete it.

    Regards

    Sabya

    Hi Michael,

Can you please check if your current pc is named LAPTOP-HP17\mlanc or was it before you did any update or reinstall.

Try to go into safe mode - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/sta...

    and delete the folder there.

If still it is not working, you will have to use third party tools to remove it. There are many free third party tools which you can search with the tag - files and folder unlocker. Please research the third party tool before downloading.

    Regards

    Sabya

Thank you for your response. I followed the instructions and I’m now able to open the necessary folder; however, I am unable to delete the folder. When I attempt to delete the folder I’m getting the message: You require permission from LAPTOP-HP17\mlanc to make changes to this folder. I have done research, but I’m still unable to delete the folder. Any assistance with this is appreciated.
