How to get proper network adapter for my new PC.

Hello, I just built a new PC and I’m sure people see this all the time but I did and do not have network adapters to connect to the internet. I tried downloading multiple drivers on a thumb drive but none seemed to work (I kept getting a yellow ‘I’ icon and I would still not be able to connect to the internet. I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of what adapters to download or what else I could do. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Currently I have WAN miniport drivers installed under ‘network adapters’ from default

Do you see an Ethernet port on your computer? Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port, like this:

Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your router. Now you have a wired connection (aka an Ethernet connection) to your network.

If you were thinking more of a wireless connection (aka a WiFi connection) to your network: Today, most motherboards already have a wireless network adapter built into the motherboard. You can check your motherboard's documentation to see if this is the case for you. Note: In order to use the built-in wireless adapter, you need to enable it in the UEFI (which was formerly known as the BIOS.)

    Hello Jacob, this is Emily.

First of all, are you talking about ethernet or wifi?

Second, does your motherboard come with onboard network adapter, whether it is ethernet or wifi?

If the motherboard doesn't come with onboard one, did you add the actual hardware - the actual adapter itself? This is not something you simply download, you need to make sure you have the hardware first.

    What's your motherboard model?
