PROBLEM-UPDATE: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1070 - Version 30.014.7466 - problems with Windows 7

Dear all

for many months now I have been unable to update my NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1070-videocard to its latest driver, because when I do so, it poses a serious problem after completion - currently I have updated to version 30.014.7466 (I could roll back to the previous version 30.014.7411 which works fine but because it causes some irregularities with Wondershare - a programme I desperately need for making videos for my site/my book - I would rather keep this update).

As a result of the problem, my videocard isn't even recognized anymore and instead Windows has replaced it with some standard videocard, which is only able to do the very basic things (not even show my awesome aquarium-fishtank for which I paid quite a handsome fee).

My computer is a ACPI x64-based PC.

My processors are 8x Intel Core (TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz

PLEASE HELP ME ... I'd be forever grateful ... I've been working on a book about nature for the past 20 years and I do need my site (www.ken4mothernature.com) to be filled with as many wonderful videos on nature as possible - and I can ONLY do this with Wondershare - and it won't work properly with my previous driver and Windows doesn't work properly with my newest driver.

What to do? What to do?

Thanks for any assistance! :o)

Ken.

Win 7 went out of support Jan 2020, and no updates of any type since that date. You can only update drivers from the PC maker if they still offer updates

And if a branded PC you update drivers only from thatPC maker

    Dear Mr. LemP,

I tried both version prior to the one that gave me problems, the 47466, and they both had the same result: after the installing of the 47430 & 47444 it said there were some irregularities and I couldn't play, e.g., my fish screensaver - not that THIS is soooo very important, lol, but I do need the best update so I can keep making videos with Wondershare for my site (www.ken4mothernature.com)

For now I'm just gonna have to get things done with the last version that works for GTX 1070 which is the 30.014.7411. That one doesn't give me problems.

In any case, I'd still like to thank you for helping me out, despite not having found a better driver.

I suppose the only way for me is to, one day, buy a new videocard. :)

    Dear Mr. LemP,

first and foremost I would like to thank you for your assistance.

I haven't tried it out yet - just download versions 474.44 and 474.30 because, as you can see below, I had to skip the latest version 474.66 because after I did my PC went exorcist on me and turned off the NVIDIA GeForce-videocard and all of its options 'off' and returning to the very basic videocard of Windows. I also received, on multiple occasions (tried to update several times) the error that something was wrong with the update.

I haven't really found the serial number, sorry. I DO know I have an HP with an MSI-motherboard.

I'll get back to you once I have the results of the videocard ... but once again ... THANK YOU SO MUCH ALREADY!!!!! :o)

Before you give up hope, please tell us the make and specific model of your computer (not the video card). If it's a Dell, please provide the Dell Service Tag. If it's an HP, please provide the serial number.

Or, if you have a custom-built computer (or your computer manufacturer doesn't supply an updated driver), you can get the driver from NVIDIA.

The 7466 was the last version before NVIDIA stopped supporting the GTX 1070. There were, however, a couple of versions between 7411 and 7466. If the 7466 doesn't work with your system, perhaps 7444 or 7430 would work. And if you didn't get the 7466 driver from NVIDIA, try the official version first:

Thank you kindly for your swift reply.

So, essentially, that means that I'm just going to have to work it with my old videocard? Hmmm, pity, hopefully the updates of the other systems are enough to keep my PC running. Thank you for your reply, sir. :o)
