What is strange, was that it was working OK on Saturday and then on Sunday it stopped. This was after I ran a chkdsk, do you know if system restore would help resolve this issue. I purchased a hdmi cable because my monitor was missing one.
My PC Is Running But No Display.
Yesterday, my computer was experiencing disk errors. Next I ran chkdsk to fix the errors, long story short, my pc was working OK throughout the day until this following morning. When I turned on my pc, it lit up and was running, but there is no display on my monitor. When I pressed the menu on the monitor, it says check hdmi cable.
I checked the cables, and it appears fine, and my pc was working OK yesterday, after Windows ran a disk repair. I have Windows 10, I am not sure if it is the monitor or the pc. If my hard drive c, gives a ticking sound 11 times when powered on, does that mean that it could be the pc and not the monitor?

EmilyS726 227.4K Reputation points Independent Advisor2024-01-29T14:24:42+00:00 Hardware issue is unpredictable unfortunately. It is normal that it was working until it doesn't.
I am more conerned about the clicking sound. I don't think system restore will help - as I said, if your monitor doesn't even show you computer manufacturer logo before Windows boots, this is not a system issue, because it already doesn't work before Windows boots. Does that make sense?

I assume the monitor didn't even show the computer's manufacturer logo before Windows, right? If so, this is not a Windows issue. Troubleshooting from Windows won't help.
Is it possible you can try a different cable and/or a different monitor, such as TV. If the issue continues, then you know it is the computer, not the monitor.
If your computer gives ticking sound, it can be a hardware error code. Every manufacturer can have different pattern/meaning when it comes to these codes. I am afraid you will need to contact your computer's manufacture support if the computer is still within warranty, or take it to local repair shop.

What does it mean. if your hard drive is clicking,.?
The printed circuit board in your. Hard drive connects electronic components.
Sometimes, that board or the head stack, assembly is damaged by a power surge
or surges. When either of these are damaged, the hard drive cannot function properly
and the result is a hard drive noise, that sounds like a click or tick.
it appears to be a hardware, failure as you pointed out above
ln that case the advisable is to. Take the computer
