Hiya,

I am trying to launch a 3D map editor called Radiant Black but keep getting this error in event viewer. The program will start launching then crash with no error displayed.

I have noticed rarely the program will open, maybe once every 100 attempts.

I have tried the following with no luck.

  • Updated all my drivers
  • Updated windows 10
  • Ran sfc /scannow
  • Tried running the program in safe mode
  • Made it an exception in my anti virus software (bitdefender)
  • Reinstalled the program along with any associated files/programs
  • Flashed my bios to the latest version
  • Disabled all my overclocks for CPU, RAM and GPU
  • Changing the number format from "," to "." in control panel (Recommended fix for this program)
  • Reinstalled windows 10 keeping all my files

Hello and welcome to the Microsoft Community

According to your description, your computer reports an error after opening Radiant Black's 3D Map Editor

I have seen your error message, the error program is Radiant_modtools.exe.

The program in question is Radiant_modtools.exe, as it is a third-party program, you can try contacting the support staff of the program to help you resolve the issue.

Your computer prompts about OLEAUT32.dll error, you can try to see if your computer can find the file (usually system system directory or put the software to the same level directory)

You can download the file on the Internet, you can download the file can be placed in the original folder, replace the old (usually the system system directory or placed in the same level of the software directory) file

In addition, you can try to repair the system commands to see if your computer is missing some files, or generated by the error!

    1. Search for CMD, find the command prompt, and choose to run in administrator mode.
    2. Enter the following commands one by one, and be sure to complete the previous command before executing the next one.

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    SFC /Scannow

    1. After the scan is complete, you can check the scanning information to see if the problem has been detected and fixed.

I hope the above information is helpful to you, if you have any questions feel free to contact me

    Thank you for your reply.

This is related to the OLEAUT32.dll file, and the error was triggered by your program.

You can click the Windows key, open Settings > Windows Update > Recovery > Advanced Startup > Restart Now.

After entering, click Troubleshoot > Repair System.

Then restart and see if the problem is resolved.

Hope the above information is helpful to you.

    Hiya,

    Cheers for the reply.

I tried what you suggested but had no luck with it.

Running those commands told me that everything was perfect and there was no corruption.

I have asked around on forums that deal with that program Radiant but i've had no replies so far.

From the error code i pasted you can confirm that its the program radiant causing the issues though not the .dll file?

    Kind Regards.
