How to Kill Old Laptop

Our town dump takes old computers but without the hard drives. I am not strong enough to use screwdriver to unscrew the screws on the bottom, so I tried both hammering and running over the laptop with my car, to no avail. I have four to dispose of.

I understand, that you are having a hard time removing the case of the laptop to remove the hard drive.

Removing a hard drive is actually a job of a professional hardware technician, it is best if you can ask a friend or a family member who is capable on helping you with this.

Or you can take it to a local computer shop and have them remove it for you so you can properly destroy the data on that drive.

I meant unscrewing the screws that are on the bottom of the laptop. There are tiny screws on the bottom of the outside of the laptop, and the casing needs to be removed so I can get to the hard drive itself. I have a driller but it does not hold a drill that tiny.

Hi, I am an Independent Advisor.

Let me help you with this issue.

I understand that you want to dispose 4 of your old machines. And you need to make sure that your hard drives are properly destroyed.

If you have a driller, you can try to drill holes to your hard drives.

If you are not equipped or strong enough to remove the hard drives, please ask someone who can do it for you, then dismantle the hard drive and completely destroy it.
