Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of an issue with my Xbox 360 controller, whenever i plug it in it says that the usb is not recognised

i went to device manager try and update it both automatically and manually but that did nothing, i also tried to plug in my guitar hero 360 controller which did work. the xbox 360 controller i am trying to use does light up when plugged in but only for a second until the messages above appear

i tried to also find the drivers in https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-au/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows but all i could find were pdf's

is there anything i can do to fix it or is it the controllers fault?

please and thank you

Hi, I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

Please provide some more details to help identify what is causing this problem. Are you using a laptop or a desktop? Which is the full model of your computer/laptop or motherboard? If you are using a desktop, did you try to connect the controller to the rear USB ports directly on the motherboard?

-Attach a screenshot of the System Information Page:

1-Right-click on Start then click on Run

2-Type: msinfo32 and click on Ok

-Attach a screenshot of the "Device Status" of the controller

1-Right-click on Start then click on Device Manager

2-Right-click on the controller driver and click on properties

3-Take a screenshot and attach it here

The outdated version of Bios could be the cause of the problem. There are some Bios updates on the Asus website which include fixes to "Improve system performance, stability, and compatibility". Downloading and installing the latest version of Bios (2004) should fix this problem.

Then you can use the Intel Driver & Support Assistant from this link to make sure you are using the latest version of the Chipset driver.

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support...

Updating these drivers should fix the problem and let you connect the controller to your computer without problems.

Hi Robinson, thanks for the offer to help.

To answer some of the questions, it is a desktop which ive built myself, the controller worked on it prior within the past 2 years so its odd its stopped now.

I have tried all available USB ports on the desktop including the ones i usually use for my other peripherals and it still only lit up for a second and posted the error. I attached a screeshot of the msinfo underneath which inlcudes the motherboard type as well, I only took out some personal stuff as to put my mind at ease as this is a public domain, and I also attached the properties of the controller, I hope this helps.
