Split from this thread.

Hi.... I have been looking into buying McAfee's PC Optimiser as my laptop clearly needs to be tidied up. I have no idea what I can do to remove all those temporary files which I think would be a good starting point. Any ideas of how I do that within Windows 10?

Thanks!

I needed to create some space! My PC (aged 4.5 years) could well be running slower than it should so trying to help it as much as possible.

Certainly, a person can move much faster with a lighter knapsack vs. a heavier knapsack, but a computer is not a person. A computer doesn't have to work harder if there's more data on the hard drive.

Similarly, a person can work much faster if they don't have to search through piles of books and papers for what they need, but a computer is not a person. Even an old computer like my almost 14-year old desktop running Windows 10 can find files anywhere on the hard drive in milliseconds.

The temporary file folder for your user account is found at:

    c:\Users\your user account\AppData\Local\Temp

I am interested to know why you feel that a computer needs to be tidied up. I can well appreciate how tidying up is good for people, I'm just not sure how it benefits a computer.

I needed to create some space! My PC (aged 4.5 years) could well be running slower than it should so trying to help it as much as possible. I have deleted some temporary files but simply wondered if buying a product like McAfee's PC Optimiser was worthwhile.
