Why does OMEN Gaming Hub pop up in steam ever since family safety was set up?

Hello and good evening, my name is Hassan.

Ever since my mom set up family safety on my computer, set herself as administrator, and I removed myself from administrator role, this pop up message from OMEN Gaming Hub pops up every time I launch and end a game on steam. The message asks if it's allowed to make changes to my device, which a box below it for my mom's Microsoft pin.

I spoke with HP Software department over the phone, he said it's likely because I'm not the administrator anymore and to run steam games, admin role is required. if I was still admin, it would break Microsoft family safety settings. Even after my mom has repeatedly put in her pin, the message comes back for the same game every time.

Is there a workaround to this? If not we'll find a different software to use for parental controls.

    Hello, Hassan Cheema_192

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Hello, I understand your concern. The OMEN Gaming Hub prompting for administrative privileges seems to be because you are no longer the administrator of your computer due to your home security settings. The software requires administrator privileges to make changes to your device.

Thank you for the information and since OMEN Gaming Hub is an HP feature, I have some suggestions here for you to try:

    1. Re-contact the HP Software Department: Explain the situation to them and ask if there is a specific solution or available update for the OMEN Gaming Hub that can be used with your home security setup.
    2. Run Steam as administrator: Right-click on the Steam shortcut or executable file, select "Run as administrator" and provide the necessary credentials when prompted. This will allow you to run Steam games without triggering the OMEN Gaming Hub pop-up window.
    3. Use other parental control software: If the problem persists and cannot be resolved with the OMEN Gaming Hub, consider using other parental control software that is compatible with your computer's settings.

You can also discuss these options with your mother and involve her in the decision-making process regarding parental control of the computer.

Thank you for your time and effort working on this issue.

    Best wishes
