Hi team

I'm trying to copy file from one folder to another when I get following error; it 0x80004005.

From my research it's got to do authority when I'm the administrator.

Thank,

Sergio

Hello Sergio, thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I am here to help and provide assistance with any questions or concerns you may have.

You're absolutely right! The error code 0x80004005 often indicates an issue with permissions, even if you're logged in with an administrator account.

You need to take ownership of the folder you are trying to copy to. Let's try this:

    1. Right-click the folder you're trying to copy files from.
    2. Go to Properties -> Security tab.
    3. Click Advanced.
    4. Next to "Owner", click Change.
    5. Type your administrator account name and click Check Names. Click OK.
    6. Check the box "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".
    7. Click Apply and OK to close all windows.
    8. Try copying the files again.

Let me know if this helps.

Let's try and check your system for any issues:

    1. Search for "Command Prompt" or "PowerShell" in your start menu.
    2. Right-click the appropriate icon and select "Run as administrator".

    After this, run these commands:

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    sfc /scannow

After running DISM and SFC, it may be helpful to restart your computer to ensure changes are fully applied.

    HI Emmanuel,

Thanks for your assistance in resolving this.

Just a week ago I had a fresh install of Windows 11 due How remove firmware device driver that is causing blue screen in which I had Windows 10 ever since it got released upgrading from Windows 8 and then 8.1 and so on. I took it to a computer repair who advised it should be hard to restore but install went with Windows 11 due having to re-install all from 8 again.

When I started up I noticed that download programs were being deleted and could see this happening and didn't have access due to: Windows 11 - Your IT administrator has limited access to "Virus and Threat Protection" which I resolved.

You have been able to resolve this issue.

I never had these type of issues after a fresh install of Windows

    Thank you so very much

    Muchas Gracias

    Sergio
