Hi, James. I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

Please provide some more detail on what you are trying to do. Which folders do you want to move to drive D?

If you want to move the Documents, Photos, Videos, and Downloads from drive C to drive D, you can use this procedure.

Step 1: Create the folders on the drive D

    1-Open the File Explorer

2-Click on "This PC" and open the drive D

3-Right-click on an empty area and select New > Folder

4-Enter the name for the folder like Documents, Photos, Videos, and Downloads

    Step 2: Move the folder

    1-Open the File Explorer

2-Right-click on the folder that you want to move (I.g Documents) and click on Properties

    3-Click on the "Location" tab

    4-Click on the "Move..." button

5-Select the correct folder on the drive D, click on "Select Folder" then click on Apply and Ok

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be glad to assist you further.

"My Lightroom app will not download more files until I creat more room on C."

-Moving the folders Download, Documents, Videos, and Pictures will free up space on your drive C. It's not recommended to move the Desktop folder to another drive as it could impact the performance of your computer.

"How can I direct future files to be saved to D and not C?"

-After you change the location of the folders to drive D all files will be saved there automatically.

"Will your method remove the folders from C?"

-After you select the folder and click on apply, you will be asked if you want to move all the content of the folder to the new location, select "Yes" and all the content will be moved to the new location.

Thank you for your quick and clear explanation!!

I have been searching for a simple way to do this.

My C drive is nearly full and my D drive is mostly empty.

So you were right to think I wanted to move my document files.

My Lightroom app will not download more files until I creat more room on C.

    Here's a related question.

How can I direct future files to be saved to D and not C?

Do I have to identify each file type like pdf, word docs, etc.

Will your method remove the folders from C?

    Thanks.
