So I just got a desktop microphone that I won at dave&busters, but when I try to plug it in it says it's an output headphone instead of an input microphone. The Microphone is used by plugging in a 3.55MM audio jack into my computer.

    Hi ,

I am Ivan, I will help you with this.

Are you using the connection on the back or front of the computer?

And what is your realtek audio driver?

You need a mic/headphone Y splitter or adapter. Laptops with single combo jacks require a TRRS mic (3 black rings). Desktop computers with 2 separate audio jacks require TRS mic (2 black rings).

You need a specialized Y splitter that clearly tell you that it is a microphone/headphone splitter.
