iCloud for Windows keeps complaining about Wnows Media Feature

I have Windows 10 Home version 22H2.

All on a sudden, I keep getting this:

That download link doesn't work. I read the community answers. The optional features is now on System but I still can't add the feature.

I tried directly from Microsoft site to do a standalone, but it says my pc doesn't support it.

What needs to be done?

Everything is working but that popup is annoying.

Why all on a sudden?

Thanks and Regards.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

This is a bug in the new version of iCloud, many people are reporting this, there is nothing wrong with your Media Feature Pack, it is installed by default you do not need to install it.

Open the old Controls Panel, then set View at the top to large icons

    Open Programs and Features

On the left, click 'Turn Windows Features on or off'

Expand the Media Features section and ensure the old Windows Media Player (Legacy) is enabled, if it was not enabled, enable it and restart your PC

If that does not solve this, you will need to contact Apple support, because there is nothing wrong with your system.

here's what i posted recently... hope this helps...

I had the same problem with my Windows 10 22H2 computer. The message is very misleading, clicking Download doesn't actually take you to a download. Here's what I did to make the error message go away. Hope this work for you all!!

    1. Toggle this on/off: Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off > Media Features (I unchecked OFF, then rechecked ON to basically do an uninstall/reinstall)
    2. Go here: Windows 11 / Windows 10 22H2: Media Feature Pack for Windows 10/11 N (February 2023)
    • Do the Additional Steps section: Click each link and when prompted install using the Microsoft Store.
      • Media codecs for playback of media in apps and in the browser:
      • VP9 Video Extensions
      • Web Media Extensions
      • HEIF Image Extensions
      • HEVC Video Extensions
    • Note: I actually had to pay the $0.99 for the HEVC Video Extensions. I'm assuming that since Windows does not natively support HEVC, we need this to view such videos on iCloud.

This is so you can't delete photos and you have to upgrade your ICloud Storage plan so Apple make more money from you.

    Excellent thank you !

I followed your instructions on W11 23H2 PC and it solved the problem.

I found that I needed to reboot the PC after doing all the steps you describe including HEIF Image Extensions install and BEFORE I was able to do HEVC Video Extensions install. After reboot I could do the HEVC Video Extensions install - and like you I had to pay for it ($1.45 AUD here in Australia)

Thank you again.. that was really bugging me.
