Thanks for the reply but nothing worked, I only have an .esd and when I convert it to .wim I need to do that in a place separate from a USB I chose in the MediaCreationTool. I've tried running different prompts on the .esd, and on the .win created in a different directory.
Is there any way I can do what dism is supposed to do whithout using dism? I will hate my life if I have to reinstall windows, I have a slow hdd and weak internet and >1TB of personal data.
DISM error 0x800f081f couldn't restore health with both the .esd and .wim
Can't restore health no matter what I try says "couldn't find initial files".

The error 0x800f081f means "The source files could not be found".
Unless you have problems installing Windows Update, please ignore this error.
If this error stops you from installing the latest updates, a repair install using the ISO should fix the issue.

2024-02-19T08:17:37+00:00 Hi
Welcome to Microsoft community.
I know you're having trouble with the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool. The error 0x800f081f typically occurs when the tool can't find the files it needs in order to fix your Windows image. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:
- Check Your System Files: Before running DISM, it's a good idea to check your system files for errors. You can do this by opening Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "Command Prompt" in the Start Menu, right-click, select "Run as administrator"), typing "sfc /scannow", and pressing Enter.
- Use a Different Source: If you're using a specific source with the "/Source" option in DISM, you might want to try a different source file. Make sure the source files match the version of Windows you're trying to repair.
- Use Windows Update as a Source: If you're not able to use a different source file, you can try using Windows Update as a source. You can do this by running "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /LimitAccess" in the Command Prompt.
- Use the Correct Syntax: Make sure you're using the correct syntax for the DISM command. A typical command looks like this: "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:C:\source\install.wim:1 /limitaccess", where "C:\source\install.wim" is the path to your source file.
If none of these steps work, it's possible that there's a deeper issue with your Windows installation. In that case, you might want to consider doing a clean install of Windows.
Disclaimer: At this point, we have exhausted all troubleshooting and I recommend that we try to perform a clean install to get your computer back into a working condition. Please ensure that you backup any important data, including Documents, Pictures, Videos, and more.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

2024-02-21T06:13:43+00:00 Sorry but I've gotten pretty frustrated with a long week of maintenance (including problems/checks other than this) so I can't respond rn. I need to chill out. Is it ok if I return at a later date?
