GameInput crashing my pc

Whilst playing games recently my pc has crashed multiple times, after checking the reliability history i see a that microsoft GameInput successfully reconfigures at exactly the same time the pc crashes and creates a critical event notice of windows not shutting down correctly. i have looked online and seen people only having temporary fixes that just get overturned by the next update, but these are all old and i was wondering if is there is now any way to stop game input from reconfiguring? Or a new way to get rid of game input permanently?

Yeah none of this helped. I tried all that they talk about in the forum, removing xbox apps, removing game services and game input, updating bios/drivers. now instead of the reliability monitor showing gameinput reconfiguring or installing at the time of the restart, it now just shows no event happening at the that time with just "The previous system shutdown at 13:18:33 on ‎09/‎02/‎2024 was unexpected." even though the pc did not shut down or restart at the time it references. I am beyond confused as to what is causing this issue and to why microsoft has done nothing to fix this despite it being an issue for what looks like to be 2+ years.

Hi Theo, I don't know if you have resolved the issue you are running into. I recently got the same problem, and a fix I found was on this reddit forum. Hope it helps.

    I'm gunna suggest the typical

Open start menu and type ''command prompt'' right click command prompt and run as adminnistrator, then type sfc/scannow and let it do it's thing.

If that doesn't work the only fix my brother found after exhausing all other options was reinstall Windows... Microsoft really need to sort this out been a problem for a while now. Linux is getting tempting.

Hello Theo, sorry about your problems. My name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.

To address the issue of Microsoft GameInput causing crashes on your PC, there are several strategies you can employ to either disable or permanently remove GameInput.

You can try disabling the "GameInput Host Service" via the Services application (services.msc). This has been suggested as a potential fix but might not be a permanent solution as updates could re-enable the service.

It's important to note that some of these solutions might impact the functionality of certain games or services, such as Xbox Game Pass.

Otherwise, to remove it completely, you can consult this forum where several suggestions are posted.
