MS sucks! Trying to get rid of copilot myself. Another spyware, malware program from MS.
Get rid of Copilot icon in my search on TaskBar
Windows 11 just updated and now there's AI there that I do not want. I did the registry fix to disable it from my taskbar but the icon is still there in search which means it's still lurking on my computer.
I want it dead. This is the one thing that will make me get a cheap-**** Chromebook if needed.
How do I get rid of that icon in my search bar and anywhere else that BS is lurking on my computer!

2024-02-12T02:32:48+00:00 No, that does not work. As yoy d The problem is not the Copilot on the taskbar as I clearly stated and showed the screenshot of to avoid this answer.. You can clearly see that I already removed it from the Taskbar. I literally disabled it using the registry.
The problem is the icon in the search bar. I haven't seen a solution for this anywhere as of yet.

2024-02-12T02:03:22+00:00 Hi, Walton.
I'm Jen. I'm an independent advisor and would happily help you figure this out.
I understand you are still unable to remove the copilot search from your taskbar. Have you also tried disabling it from your settings? Click on Start > Settings app > Personalization > Choose Taskbar > Toggle off the Copilot then restart your PC.
Let me know how it went.
Kind regards.

2024-02-15T10:03:15+00:00 It's very easy, actually. Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize, then go to Taskbar.
Look for Search under Taskbar items and select Search icon and label instead of Search box. The Copilot icon will disappear instantly.
If I wasn't very clear, here's a simple guide here with screenshots I just wrote: https://windowsreport.com/ive-clicked-copilot-by-mistake-12-times-now-its-time-to-remove-it-from-my-taskbar/

2024-07-02T04:12:06+00:00 Just so you are aware, removing the Search box from the task bar does not remove copilot from the search page that opens up when you click in the search bar.
I have turned off that junk in my personalization, and done a group policy edit to disable copilot from even being used on my computer, yet, the freaking thing is still showing up. This will be the last windows device I purchase if there is not a remedy for this BS. The fact that MS leadership has forced this on their customers without any consideration of whether they really want a megacorporation to have that much access to their lives is telling enough.
If you have a solution for removing the copilot logo/button from the search page, I'm ready to hear it.
