I updated my laptop to window 11 because I was trying to download a app that required to download Window 11, all of a sudden my laptop stopped charging, it started to discharge and it's finally dead. I've been trying to turn it on, it not turning on and it's not charging either.

What can I do? My project is on it and I have a deadline.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

    Hello, this is Emily.

It's possible that the issue is related to hardware issue. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Check the power adapter. Make sure that the power adapter is plugged in properly and that the LED light (if applicable) on the adapter is on. If the LED light is not on, try using a different power outlet.

If the power adapter is working properly, and if the battery is removable, try removing the battery from the laptop and then reinserting it. See if that makes any difference.

Sometimes, a hard reset can help resolve issues with laptops not turning on. To perform a hard reset, unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if possible). Then, press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds. After that, reinsert the battery (if you removed it) and plug in the power adapter. Try turning on the laptop again.

If none of these steps work, it's possible that there is a hardware issue with your laptop. In that case, I would recommend contacting HP customer support for further assistance.

    Possibilities for this:

    Hardware component involved:

    1. Laptop battery cells are depleting due to them worn out.
    2. Adapter used to charge the battery is faulty.

    Software side involved:

    1. Laptop power options are incorrectly set to distinguish between on battery use and on AC power use.
    2. Application has taking control of the power options causing the issue.

    Solutions hardware components:

    1. you need to replace the battery unit for your model of laptop
    2. replace it and ensure its the correct type and supports your laptop battery rating.

Solutions Software and Applications: (only if you can start the laptop)

    1. Adjust the power options via the control panel not under windows\settings\power.
    2. You need to locate the software or application causing the problem and remove it hard if you can not start your laptop so you may need desktop computer and remove the covering on the laptop where the hard drive is stored and remove it then take it to the desktop install it as second hard drive by configuring the bios to enable hard drive to be install and removed while you are in the desktop refer to guides and manuals for this.
    3. if its a m2 type hard drive forget step 2 altogether too much mucking around.

    Call computer repair shop:

    1. book appointment to get your laptop check if you cannot do any of the above yourself.
