I don't know how my flash drive became "read only" but every time I try to access it it says i need to format it and by doing so it will erase data. I have photos in the flash drive and have tried chkdsk, uninstall though device manager, and cleaned the disk. Nothing is working and I'm afraid of losing my pictures on the flash drive.

My name is Jonathan Deives. I'm an Independent Advisor and I will be happy to help you today.

This could be a problem with the Flash drive itself, I recommend that you take it to a technical assistance where they have software or tools to try to access and check if it is possible to recover the files without formatting the flash drive.

What did you do to clean the disk?

If you used a clean command in diskpart then you have erased all data on the disk. The files are lost unless a professional recovery company can help.
