Ping randomly spikes in game (I figured out the culprit but I need a PERMANENT solution)

Model: Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16APH8

Describe the issue: While playing games such as war thunder or genshin impact my ping will suddenly spike for 2-3 seconds then come back down. I already figured out what is causing it, for some reason the Realtek 8852 CEcard dramatically increases the ping when looking for new connections. While in game, for some reason, it continues to look for new connections. Hence, it is why I am experiencing the lag. TO CONCLUDE, AUTOCONFIG IS CAUSING THE ISSUE. Is there a windows update which caused this?

What have you tried already?: Everything, resetting the laptop, drivers, BIOS, software, etc... When did it start producing the issue: Since the laptop fresh out the box.

Did you install new drivers or software?: Yes I've installed all the latest BIOS, software, and drivers.

Hi Piong, I hope your doing well despite the problem you are experiencing now and I'm sorry for that. For that let me try to assist you.

Can you please check if you have the latest driver for your Network device from the Manufacturer's site. As it may have updates on the latest patches of Windows for compatibility.

If there is no update from the provider, you may try to check the consistency of your internet connection using PING

Click Start and type CMD and press enter

    In the command line, type

    ping www.microsoft.com -t

Let it run for a few minutes and check if a message such as Request timeout appears consecutively. With your game running, and while it is not running. Try to observe if it happens in both cases.

If it happens even while you are not running your game, try to open another command prompt and this time use ping again. but instead of the url site, type the gateway

    ping 192.168.?.1 -t

The value of ? is the vlan you are using. You can check this out from your active network status gateway. If you are unfamiliar with that, see the link below

If your local connection is not having multiple request timeout vs your ping in Microsoft, then the problem is in your internet connection. It might be intermittent and may need to be inspected by your internet provider. But if both internet and gateways has timeouts. The issue is in your LAN or Wireless LAN. Try troubleshooting this also with a LAN connection.

If the problem still exist in both internet, lan and wlan, you can check based on your history if there is a Windows Update and based on the timeframe when you have experienced lag issues. You can try removing the update and restart your Windows device after you have removed the update. It is possible that there is a conflict with an update in your Windows.

To remove a Windows update, follow the instructions from the link below:

I hope this helps. Please let me know if I didn't address your problem. Don't hesitate to ask for further assistance.

    Regards,

    Arnel
