Remove old devices from Restore screen?

Just installed Win 11 on another device, and I noticed there are a lot of old installations in the "Select a device to restore from" screen, during Windows installation. Is there any way to remove them? I can't find anything in my account.

This isn't mine. I took it from a video, but it's just to make you understand what screen I'm talking about.

Hello. I understand the questioner's problem. I have the same problem. When installing new Windows, the installer also offers me 15 resettable old machine names and settings. But when I search my microsoft account to delete them permanently it only shows 3 files. Instead of the old 15 installations that the windows installer shows. I once managed to delete all these old machine names and settings with the data. Yet on a new install, after logging in, it still offers the same 15 hostnames in the windows installer. Why ? Especially if it has already been deleted ? The main problem is onerdrive which many people don't use, yet it forces the data to be backed up. Which I think is how the system records personal settings. That's why you always make a new machine and set the data backup for that machine only. I also disable ondrive right away from autostart and delete it from my programs for this very reason. But if one is not careful and in a hurry and does not choose to save data only for this machine then one is out of luck. Where can I access the entire recorded machine name and data file for permanent deletion? Because it only offers 3 of the devices stored in the microsoft account. And for a new windows installation, it also lists 15 machine names and restorable settings. This is the previous poster's problem and it is my problem too. I have read through many forum reddits on the subject. I took your advice and did it yet I can't see the many settings, hostnames, nowhere that I want to delete. I also logged into OneDrive, there is no data related to this. There must be some setting somewhere where these recorded data can be deleted. it's very confusing that the machine names and the settings keep accumulating. The other thing is that the function does not work properly. If I want to restore something from the profile, the installation is much slower, I think because of the synchronization of the old data settings. The most beautiful thing is that the system does not install programs, but throws up a search when you click on the launcher icon. It can be downloaded. it doesn't make much sense in my opinion. I hope this makes the problem more understandable. Thank you in advance for the answer to whoever can provide a meaningful answer to find a solution to this problem... Sorry bad English google translate....

Yeah, but, as my topic suggests, and as I said already, I can't find a way to remove them. They are not in "manage my devices"menu.

    Very well written!

I have the exact same problem!

    Microsoft,
If it is not possible to delete them or only if one has access to some secretive address, then simply let us know!

Thanks, but I already knew that, and it didn't help.

It only shows the devices I'm using in the recent period. But that Restore screen has some devices latest updated in 2021 and 2022.

The "manage devices" screen shows my actual pc, my xbox controller and my rog ally. Nothing more. The Device to Restore screen had like 20 older different entries.

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm Microsoft user like you.

For your convenience, this is requesting that you move any OneDrive files from an outdated install or device that you still have connected to your account, along with your synced settings. Should you choose to do so, all of the settings you have synchronized on the previous installation under Settings > Accounts > Sync your settings will be carried over to the current one.

You can remove those outdated devices from your Microsoft Account here if you no longer need them or want them associated with your account:

In case of additional questions, reach out back to me, and I will be happy to help and try our best to resolve your issue.

    Best Regards,

    Prakash
