Family Safety - Add Screen Time for Computer

I previously used the xbox app to manage screen time for my 3 kids. We have set times per day that they can use their computers. Occasionally we provide extra time on an adhoc basis. This extra time is granted outside of their scheduled screen time schedule.

Since the ‘upgrade’ I have been unable to figure out how to accomplish this same functionality in the family app? Is there an option to grant extra time like what was previously available?

Is there a way to continue to utilize the xbox app and have it apply to the computer time as well?

If this feature doesn’t exist in the family app and we are supposed to manage our childrens screen time there, I find that to be an oversight in this rollout.

Thanks for any tips or help you can provide.

    Thanks Mitchell,

You've sent me instruction on how to set up screen time limits. I already have screen time limits set up in the Family Safety App. That part was relatively straight forward. What I don't seem to have any more is the ability to provide extra time on an adhoc basis. This extra time is granted outside of their scheduled screen time (Which I have set up in the app).

Let me give an example to make it clear.

Screen Time is set up to that there is no time available on weekends between 9:00am and 6:00pm. On occasion I might want to provide 1 hour of screen time in this normally restricted span of time on the weekend. To make this happen prior to the 'upgrade', I would open the Xbox family app on my phone, navigate to my child's screen time - something like the screen shot below. "Add Time Today".

I am wondering where I can find a comparable feature in the Family Safety App or if not in the Family Safety App where a comparable feature is to manage my children's computer screen time. They don't use xbox to play games, they use there PC's.

If this feature doesn’t exist in the family app and we are supposed to manage our childrens screen time there, I find that to be an oversight in this rollout.

Thanks for any tips or help you can provide.

Agree with previous posters. Unified time for both PC and Xbox and the ability to extend time temporarily are both crucial features. The Family Safety app is a serious downgrade in functionality compared with the old Xbox family app. Please restore these essential features!

Agree with both posters, the update is a big step backwards.

    A. Why do we have to manage Xbox and pc separately, a combined time on any devices was preferable …

    B. We have a schedule set during school time as they use their device for school, then previously used the ad hoc “add time” function in the Xbox family app to grant time after school … we can no longer do that.

I agree with original person that asked questions. This "update" seems to be a step backwards. How do we get back to how it used to work?
