Acer Aspire 5 Won't Restart (I have come up with the solution, for anyone interested, please check my final comment regarding this matter)

Essentially, I've searched around and am hesitant to do the instructions I've seen, in the instructions mentioned, a user had issues with restarting their computer like me, however it happened after an update. My PC on the other hand had just out of the blue wouldn't restart properly. To elaborate further on this, when you restart a computer, you see the "restarting" screen with the spiral. Mine does that too, the only problem is it gets stuck on that for an indefinite amount of time. I'd have to force restart it for it to actually work and I know it's not entirely healthy to force restart your computer. Is there any way to properly fix this issue without continuously force restarting the pc?

    Hello Joseph,

    I am Jaspreet Singh.

    Please try these steps :

Press and hold the power button to shut down the system and power it on again when it shuts down. But instead of letting it boot press and hold the power button as soon as you see the boot logo on the screen.

Repeat this shut down and start up until you see a preparing automatic repair screen (it will take 3 or 4 tries)

On the screen that appears click on troubleshoot then on advance options then on startup repair and let the process complete then restart your system.

Okay yall, I wanna be clear about this, if anyone is still having the same issue, check for sputters in your PC's general performance, if it is in fact sputtering with performance, your operating system may be corrupted (keyword MAY, I would highly encourage getting it looked at by someone if it is however but remember not all scenarios will be the same for everyone, while everything here might have helped for others, some people may truly have a corrupted OS). I figured that out the hard way. Don't try to update drivers through third parties like I did, let Windows Updates cover it for you.

I had to have my OS wiped and the issue is resolved. If you want, feel free to search online for symptoms of a corrupted OS, if you figure that out, try to take it to a Best Buy near you. Back up your files, it's cheaper. Consider the pricetag the cost for falling for apps/softwares that are allegedly "fixing" problems as they may end up causing irreparable damage.

I am in no way an expert in this stuff (based off the fact of what happened to me), however I am just recounting what happened to me in hopes to prevent yall from suffering from the same thing. Don't try to be overprotective of your PC, while antivirus software CAN help, it can also slow performance (I had AVG before and it was part of the reason why I had to wipe my OS). The standard software is good enough, if you think you should need more software to defend your computer or to modify your computer, you probably shouldn't be doing the modifications in the first place as computers are very sensitive.

That's my semi-wise wisdom as a victim of a corrupted OS.

Sorry for the late response to this, I kept getting too busy and haven't been able to get around to this until now, it still hasn't resolved the issue!

While this did seem to clear up a possible disk error, when restarting it gave the prompt again, I repeated said instructions and it found nothing and the problem still persists.

    Please run this scan: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/usi...

Note the results that show up after the 100% mark and make sure you restart your system after the scan.

Please let me know the results of the scan.
