Screen capture appears dimmed or darker than actual & affected by brightness setting

Hello!

I've been facing an issue recently where my screen captures appear darker than the original. I usually use the PrtScr shortcut (via Snipping Tools). After conducting some experiments, I've observed that the screen capture results are influenced by brightness. Increasing the brightness helps, but the captures are still darker than what I see on the screen. This has been quite bothersome for me. All of these problems didn't occur before.

I would appreciate your assistance in finding a solution. Thank you.

    hi,

try this: switch HDR to OFF (go into settings, search for HDR). I am trying to upload a couple of screenshot but it seams like the messaging platform it is refusing it.

    This worked for me.

    Good luck.

P.S. beware, some software could switch HDR back ON! In my case was a game.

I also have the exact same problem, starting the end of January, 2024. Turning off HDR fixes the issue, but I cannot use HDR. Has anyone found a fix to this?

I have the same issue. Disabling the HDR from Windows Settings worked with me but this means that I will loose the HDR view feature. I hope that they fix it soon.

I updated the snipping tool, but still did not fix the problem.

However, if you go to the snipping tool settings there is an option to turn of the HDR screen shot color corrector. Oddly enough, I turned this feature off and this fixed the problem for me.

My guess is that the HDR screen shot color corrector feature is causing the problem.

    WIN+ALT+B

This key combo toggles HDR off/on

Turn off to use snipping tool.
