How do you download everything from OneDrive to your computer?

I am reaching my max on my OneDrive account and I want to download everything to my computer. Unfortunately my computer tries to automatically save everything to OneDrive as well, so it's a very big mess right now. How do I fix this? I don't have a OneDrive app on my computer because it's Windows 11 and I never had to download an app to access anything. It's built into the access through the C drive. I had to create my own folders in my C drive to save directly to my computer, windows never created them like how it was before all this cloud stuff.

Is there a way to download everything without having to drag and drop from individual folders as there are too may sub folders created on my OneDrive storage from different apps on my phone and I don't want to delete the root folder in error.

    Hi,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

The OneDrive folder you see on File Explorer, shows the files stored on the OneDrive folder (locally) and on the cloud. Before disabling the backup feature and restoring your folder locations, make sure all your files are stored locally.

Right-click the OneDrive icon on the right side of the taskbar (cloud icon) > Settings > Sync and Backup > Manage Backup > Advanced settings > Download all files. This will ensure all your OneDrive files are stored locally.

On this same Sync and Backup menu, go to Manage Backup and turn off all options. This will restore your user folders to the default locations, you may miss the files from the locations you turned off, but they are stored in the OneDrive folder on C:\Users(Your User Name)\OneDrive. You can move the files from folders under the OneDrive folder for the locations you want. These files are on your computer, but if you move/remove them from this folder, your cloud storage will sync and remove them.

this is bologna as soon as your computer restarts you will have the thieving one drive steal any and every file you put on your computer. It is by default they restore the settings they want because they want tio force you to upgrade your storage so they can make money. I have a huge storage and I don;t need their stinking cloud but just a week ago they stole everything from my computer. Legal documents and photos and graphics I bought on etsy to make a design. They are thieves and I want to start a class action lawsuit. This has to stop. they are releasing untested updates, breaking our computers, stealing our private files. They have to be held accountable.

I found the "Download all files" button, but when I click on it, it just opens file explorer, and will not let me actually select a location to download. What is this about?

Also WHY can't I just download from OneDrive online when it is full? I am trying to free up space without just deleting and it tells me no because it is too full. This is crazy

Can we get an answer to Jason's question? "Download all files" just opens an explorer window. It doesn't do anything.

    Microsoft,

I am writing to formally complain about the ongoing issues I’ve encountered with OneDrive synchronization and file management.

I initially sought assistance from a Microsoft technician to help resolve the problem I was facing. Unfortunately, the steps provided by the technician were unclear and difficult to follow, and ultimately, the solution did not work as expected.

As a result, I downloaded all of my files from OneDrive, only to create a much bigger issue. The downloaded files now include deleted and moved items, as well as files in incorrect folders. In addition, my hard drive is now cluttered with multiple copies of the same files, consuming gigabytes of extra space. Folders are disorganized, and files are misplaced, creating significant confusion and frustration.

What was meant to be a simple fix has turned into a complete nightmare. I would appreciate urgent assistance to resolve these issues and restore order to my files.
