Alps Electric HIDClass Driver doesn't update

I have a trust mouse with dongle, and everytime I plug it in my HP Zbook Studio G3 it clicks the mouse at random intervals.

Easy fix: update the driver. I saw that there indeed was a driver update for Alps Electric - HID, which is for mouse, but every time I update it, it still just shows up in: Settings -> Windows Update -> Advanced Options -> Optional Updates, even when I restart and try to update it again.

I tried to delete and reinstall it in the device manager, but it still doesn't seem to work. I also don't get any errors. How would I fix this?

Thank you!

    Thanks you so much,

I had already tried all of your suggestions, but I have just fixed it by updating the driver and the boot manager via the hp support assistant app, which did work.

    Once again, thank you!

    Hi The_Gingerjam,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

If you're having trouble updating the Alps Electric HIDClass Driver for your Trust mouse on your HP Zbook Studio G3, you can try the following steps:

    1. Manual Installation:
      • Download the latest driver from the official website of your device or Alps Electric.
      • Go to Device Manager, right-click on the Alps Electric HIDClass Driver, and choose "Update driver."
      • Select "Browse my computer for drivers" and then "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer."
      • Click on "Have Disk" and navigate to the folder where you saved the downloaded driver.
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver manually.
    2. Uninstall and Reinstall:
      • In Device Manager, right-click on the Alps Electric HIDClass Driver, and choose "Uninstall device."
      • Disconnect the mouse and restart your computer.
      • Reconnect the mouse, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver. Alternatively, you can follow the manual installation steps mentioned earlier.
    3. I recommend trying a clean boot which starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It can be used to determine whether a background service or program is interfering or causing a problem. How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step.

    1. Trying a different USB port or connecting your mouse to another USB port on your computer is a good troubleshooting step. If the mouse works well in a different USB port or if another USB device works in the original port, it suggests that the problem might be related to the specific USB port.

Additionally, you can also test the mouse on another computer to see if the issue persists. If the mouse works fine on another computer, it further indicates that the problem may be specific to your HP Zbook Studio G3, and you can focus on troubleshooting that system specifically.

    1. Contact Support:
      • If the issue persists, consider reaching out to Alps Electric support for assistance. They may provide specific guidance or updates for your device.

I hope this helps.  If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely

Hahn - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
