    Hey there!

My name is Ravi, and I am an independent advisor. I am happy to help you. :)

I understand how concerning it can be to get such a message from Avast.

It's quite common. Most of the time, it's better to ignore such messages from Avast. However, if you're really worried, you can run some scans using Windows commands to find any issues and fix them.

    Try SFC and DISM scans.

You can run SFC Scan by following these steps:

1). On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R key at the same time to invoke the Run box.

2). Type cmd and press Shift+Ctrl+Enter together on your keyboard to open Command Prompt in the administrator mode.

3). Type sfc /scannow (or copy-paste) and press Enter. Then wait for the verification is 100% complete.

    4). Restart your computer

    After that, run this command: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

You can check its details here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/use-t...

Feel free to get in touch again if you have any additional questions.

    Cheers,

    Ravi

I completely understand it. To fix broken registries, these things are performed.

    1). SFC,

    2). DISM,

    3). Auto Repair

    4). Reinstall Windows

You have already done two things. You can use the startup auto repair option from the recovery environment.

    1). Turn off your PC

2). Start the PC, when Windows starts loading, press and hold the Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

    3). Do it twice.

4). When you start Windows the third time, it will boot into the Recovery Environment. You can access Startup Repair, Command Prompt, and other options.

5). Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Repair and check if Windows can repair itself.

Maybe I missed something, but why can't you reinstall Windows? I'm talking about reinstalling Windows on top of itself, not resetting your PC and starting from scratch. I read an article one time where the author stated if he spent more than 30 minutes trying to fix some issue in Windows, he just aborted and reinstalled Windows because it took less time than trying to fix some issue you can't seem to fix.

I was nervous to try that, but I went ahead and took that advice. To be honest, I found it to be a Godsend. It doesn't screw up your files or settings in my experience. It's not like resetting your PC; no files or programs or settings are lost. The only thing I ever noticed that did get changed was that my layout in File Explorer (i.e., details or icon view) got defaulted back to details. I like to set a lot of folders to large thumbnail view, but seriously, clicking on thumbnail view (bottom right corner of Explorer) as you go along is NOTHING compared to having all the issues fixed.

Yes, you can use it with SSD. It doesn't matter if you have SSD or HDD.
