How to setting up virtual memory in D drive instead of C drive?

I have two drives in my computer, C drive and D drive. I would like to set up virtual memory in my D drive because the free storage is larger than my C drive. However, my system still uses my C drive. Are there any method to free up my C drive and use my D drive for virtual memory, or it is not possible?

Normally you would be able to change the drive to allocate the virtual memory unless it's encrypted or something related.

The steps continue from what I showed you above:

Sure, here are the steps enumerated:

    1. Uncheck the box labeled "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives."
    2. Select the drive (D drive) where you want to set up virtual memory.
    3. Choose the option "Custom size" and specify the Initial size and Maximum size for the virtual memory. You can set these values according to your system's requirements and the available space on the D drive. Typically, it's recommended to set the Initial size to the same value as the Recommended size displayed below.
    4. Click on the "Set" button, then click "OK" to apply the changes.
    5. You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

On this case, are you able to set the virtual memory size on D?

I can set up virtual memory, see both of my drives and uncheck the box, but seems by default my system uses my C drive for the allocation of virtual memory. I want to set the virtual memory on my D drive instead of C drive, I tried unchecking the box and reboot, but it still uses my C drive. Is it possible to change the location of the virtual memory to other drives other than C or I am not able to change the location of virtual memory?

Hello, thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I am here to help and provide assistance with any questions or concerns you may have.

Typically, you'd access it through the Advanced System Settings menu. You might have already given it a shot, but I'm curious to know where you might be running into issues along the way.

    1. Right-click on "This PC" and select "Properties."
    2. Navigate to the "About" menu and locate "Advanced system settings." Click on it.
    3. Within the "Advanced" tab, find the "Performance" section and click the "Settings" button.
    4. In the Performance Options window, go to the "Advanced" tab.
    5. Within the "Virtual memory" section, click on the "Change..." button.

Are both drives visible in that window?

Are you able to uncheck the box labeled "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives."?
